The "BLINKER" being prepped c/o Mike Ryan.
Mike Ryan unveiled his "BLINKER!" at a Promise/AlienInFlux/Good Times Gang New Year's Eve party last week in Toronto. It's a 192 (!) LED light wall (each of the 64 visible modules has three LED lights: red, blue, and green). It's controlled by an Arduino Mega that can be programmed to display different arrays of colour and light.
"It uses an Arduino Mega, 64 macetech MegaBrites, an 4x20 LCD display, 4 rotary encoders, a power supply and a lot of wire." (http://www.kharv.com/archives/64)
It's purpose is to look awesome at parties and as an arbiter of shiny bright things I have to agree that it does.
The Blinker V0.1 is shown below.
And this is an aside but Mike Ryan and his friends at Promise, and AlienInFlux throw wicked parties (if the LED wall hasn't already sold you) in the Toronto area. :)

Thanks for posting this Ruby. I'd just like to point out that, while reading this, I realized it's actually made of 192 LED lights. There are 64 light modules - each consisting of a red, green and blue LED. Whoops. I still like the sound of 64 though. It sounds less... garish/bloated.
And it's amazing, I would love to see something like this in London. :)
