Budapest: The Restaurant

After a conversation last night with friends discussing the best places in London to eat I thought that I would re-post something I wrote earlier in the year.

Owned and operated (on a daily basis) by Marika Hayek, Budapest certainly offers its customers (and friends) a unique dining experience which always leaves them wanting to come back time and time again.  Serving traditional Hungarian dishes  (Just an FYI: there are even options for vegetarians at Budapest, so please don’t think otherwise.) that have enough food on them to feed an army always leaves myself with enough leftovers to continue eating for the remainder of a weekend.

From hearty soups to full main courses and delicious deserts, not a single part of a meal prepared or served by Marika is anything but a fantastic treat.  Traditional Hungarian meals prepared in the heart of London, Ontario will make each patron feel as if they are back in “the old country” with relatives and friends, celebrating life.

Although Budapest is not a place that I visit on a weekly (or monthly) basis, each time I arrive for a meal with other customers (new or old) I feel as if I am part of Marika’s family.  The conversations she has to share, the care and effort she puts into making sure each person is accommodated and the absolutely fantastic (and filling) food she creates makes me feel like a kid again.  The experience reminds me of the traditional meals my grandma use to make, only in this case Hungarian food compared to that of my Dutch background.

Located at 348 Dundas Street in London, Ontario (corner of Dundas and Waterloo), Budapest is definitely a place that everyone should visit at least once, if not more.  Although the cuisine, atmosphere and company may not be to everyone’s liking I am sure that all will surely find it to be an experience none-the-less.
