This two day session is designed to provide a context where personal, aesthetic and clay concerns can be expanded. Emphasis will be on individual resources for growth, group interaction, design concepts for form development, glazing and special raku techniques ... including "naked raku".

Agenda: Day 1: Tandem throwing and hand building demonstrations -- Lunch --
Demonstration follow-up, group clay assignment & power point images of our work.
Day 2: DVD, glaze making, glazing, beginning of raku firings -- Lunch --
Additional raku firings, tong fabrication, power point talk on image and form, group clay assignment; group critique of work.
Time: 9am to 4pm both days (potluck lunch)

Robert Piepenburg is a well-known artist and author. He has been a recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship and several Michigan Council for the Arts Creative Artist Grants. His works are in many private and public collections including the Smithsonian in Washington, DC. His previous two books Treasures of the Creative Spirit and The Spirit of Ceramic Design won a total five book awards in 2009. In addition to having taught in over one hundred workshops, he was selected by his college and colleagues as the Outstanding Teacher of the Year.
Gail Piepenburg is a renowned artist whose art works resonate with a spirit-charging life energy. Gail's works appear in many of the contemporary books on ceramics and her art works have won her many awards. Her professional artistic experiences and years as a teacher have infused her being with profound meaning and insight. As an inherently creative and enthusiastic person, she is an extraordinarily gifted workshop leader.
